History

Saucer aliens have been interacting with Earth since the time of the Roman Empire (ref: Queen Zenobia). The aliens implanted a doomsday construct in the Earth. That construct was a Solarian: a giant solar-powered being capable of draining a sun of power.

Earth's Solarian was awakened in 1966. It was exiled to Hypergaard then. But it made a resurgence in 1985. During that resurgence, it manufactured a race of solar-powered minions. The Solarian was caged by Powernauts, but the minions continued. They called themselves the Infrared Sunbreaker Choir.

The Infrared Sunbreaker Choir chose to oppose the Powernaut of 1987. But their effort was so alien and inexperienced, they accidentally caused that Powernaut's creation. For several years afterward, they had Auge von Shaitan summmon opponents of increasing power against him. In the end, this effort failed. The group went into isolation.

In 1999, the Infrared Sunbreaker Choir sensed an apocalypse in progress: the attack of the conqueror Urr. The Choir came out and circled the Earth to scan. This caused some great tension, before the actual fighting.

After the 1999 incident, the Infrared Sunbreaker Choir retreated off Earth, to the moon of Io around Jupiter. By 2009, they sensed another apocalypse: the coming of the Trillions. They responded by setting Jupiter on fire and blowing up Io. One fragment of Io crashed into the Earth, and knocked it out of orbit. The Trillions put up a temporary stasis field to save the population, but Earth is now having a global cooling crisis. The planet is envisioned to be uninhabitable by 2022. Unless something changes, it looks like the Infrared Sunbreaker Choir gets the kill credit for Earth.

Personality

Mostly minions. But not the cute animated kind... at least not since they got acclimated to Earth. And they have a pretty nasty leader.

Powers and Abilities

Each individual minion is (or once was, around 1985) at about the level of a high-powered human or a low-powered superhuman. Enhanced minions sometimes go on mission, with the power of a high-powered superhuman.

Together, the Infrared Sunbreaker Choir retain power they were once granted by a Solarian. They already know how to gather their powers together (like a choir). Together, they can set Jupiter on fire and then blast one of its moons apart. And they did.

Appearance

Any member of the Infrared Sunbreaker Choir may alter their appearance to look humanoid, only glowing. When they gather, they look like an angelic choir.

Individuals of the Choir have increased their control over their appearance over the years. In 1985 they looked like flying sun monkeys. By 1987 some of them were comfortable with human proportions. By 1999 they mostly all were, and many could mimic human anatomy. It's unknown how they have looked since then.

Author's Notes

I really ought to get this entry going before Powernaut 1987 finishes.

I had to dig up the group portrait (guest-starring Ellipsis). I pencilled it sometime in the 1990s. I inked and colored it today. It at least illustrates, these creatures are an Ellipsis-class menace. That's a Superman-class menace in most universes.
